About the Role
This is a Senior AI Engineering role for someone who thrives on taking ideas from concept through to production. You will be designing, building, and deploying AI and ML systems that are already in use by global customers, with a strong focus on reliability, scalability, and continuous improvement.
You will work across the full lifecycle, from experimentation and model development through to deployment, monitoring, and optimisation in a live SaaS environment. This role suits someone who is comfortable shipping regularly and iterating on real-world feedback.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and deploy production-grade AI and ML systems
- Own the end-to-end lifecycle from experimentation through to live deployment
- Continuously improve model performance, scalability, and reliability in production
- Develop and enhance LLM-based and machine learning solutions within a SaaS product
- Collaborate with engineering, product, and data teams to deliver impactful features
- Push updates, improvements, and new capabilities into live environments with confidence
- Contribute to architecture decisions and long-term AI strategy
- Proven experience building and deploying AI or ML systems in production
- Strong experience working within SaaS or product-led environments
- Hands-on experience with modern AI frameworks, LLMs, and ML tooling
- Strong Python development skills and experience with scalable backend systems
- Experience working with APIs, data pipelines, and cloud-based infrastructure
- Understanding of performance optimisation, monitoring, and evaluation of models
- Ability to balance experimentation with delivery in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with LLM optimisation, RAG pipelines, or agent-based systems
- Exposure to distributed systems or high-scale environments
- Background working on complex, data-rich products
- Work on a genuinely complex AI-led product used by global customers
- High levels of ownership and autonomy in a senior role
- The ability to ship real features that have immediate impact
- Flexible working with Auckland preference, but remote options across New Zealand and Australia
