Our client, a well-known New Zealand organisation, building out its data capability and needs a hands-on Scrum Master to drive a squad of data engineers, analysts and product people. You'll set the rhythm, clear the path and keep the team honest about how it works together.
It's a practical, high-impact role for someone who adapts agile to the team rather than following the rulebook for its own sake.
Key Responsibilities
- Run all Scrum ceremonies with energy and discipline.
- Keep the backlog healthy and sprint ready, working with the Data Lead and product owners.
- Protect sprint cadence and shut down scope creep.
- Track velocity and progress, and report it clearly.
- Support delivery updates for senior stakeholders and steering forums.
- Remove blockers fast and keep cross-team dependencies visible.
- Coach the squad on agile practices, meeting people where they are.
- Make sure retro actions are owned and delivered.
- Help lift agile maturity across the wider Data & Analytics function.
What We're Looking For
- Proven Scrum Master or agile delivery lead experience, ideally in data.
- Real-world facilitation and coaching experience, not just theory.
- Comfort in a squad blending data engineering, analytics and product.
- Strong facilitation skills. You can run a room and keep it focused.
- Clear, plain-language communication with the squad and senior stakeholders.
- A calm, pragmatic, servant-leader approach.
- Curiosity about data and technology. You don't need to be technical, just comfortable around it.
- CSM, PSM or equivalent (preferred).
- Scaled agile or multi-squad exposure (advantageous).
- SAFe, LeSS or ICAgile (a bonus).
