About the Role
We're seeking an experienced Marine and Radio Survey Engineer with a strong background in electronics, navigation, and radio systems. In this varied and hands-on role, you'll support commercial fishing, deep-sea vessels, and defence platforms with diagnostics, commissioning, servicing, and SOLAS radio surveys.
You’ll be part of a collaborative team in a workshop and field-based environment, occasionally travelling to provide expert service and support across New Zealand and internationally.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, commission, and maintain marine electronics systems
- Conduct sea trials and oversee equipment performance
- Provide field and workshop support for sonar and navigation equipment
- Perform radio surveys in accordance with classification society requirements
- Liaise with management companies, agents, and suppliers for service delivery
- Provide remote product support through phone, email, and ticketing systems
- Maintain accurate records of job data, hours, parts, and service activities
- Contribute to service process improvements and new business opportunities
- Sound technical knowledge of marine electronics
- Confident with the installation and setup of software and systems
- Comfortable reading schematics and system diagrams
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks
- Team-oriented with a proactive attitude
- Prior experience in maritime servicing or electronic systems preferred
