About the Role
- We are seeking a technically strong Lead Data Test Engineer to help define, build, and drive the direction of a newly established Data Test Practice. Based in Central Auckland, this permanent opportunity offers the chance to make a lasting impact by setting the foundations and guiding principles for data testing in a high-performing environment.
- You will take ownership of developing automation frameworks, introducing best practices, and influencing how AI capability is leveraged across testing initiatives. The first major programme will focus on consolidating legacy systems into a unified data lake and validating data integrity across old and new systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish and lead the Data Test Practice, including frameworks, standards, and governance
- Design and implement scalable test automation strategies for data platforms
- Drive innovation in AI integration within testing frameworks
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define data quality metrics and validation rules
- Provide thought leadership and mentor other testers within the team
- Ensure testing coverage across data lakes, pipelines, and transformation layers
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience leading data test initiatives at scale
- Strong expertise in Test Automation tools such as Playwright, Selenium, or similar
- Hands-on knowledge across Data Tools and Platforms including Informatica, Databricks, and Snowflake
- Solid coding skills in Python and advanced SQL
- Familiarity with data migration testing, data lake architectures, and AI-powered test optimisation
- A strategic mindset with the ability to translate vision into actionable solutions
