We’re seeking a Senior Databricks Engineer to lead the design and delivery of a modern data platform for a high-impact programme in central Auckland. This is a 6-month initial contract with strong extension potential — ideal for a senior professional who thrives at the intersection of architecture, hands-on delivery, and strategic influence.

You’ll bring a blend of technical depth and leadership, with expertise in:
  • Advanced data engineering across large-scale, cloud-based ecosystems
  • Databricks (strongly preferred), Azure Data Factory, Delta Tables, ADLS, and Power BI
  • Deep proficiency in SQL, Python, and PySpark for big data processing
  • Hands-on experience with Modern Data Platforms (MDP) such as Databricks, Snowflake, or Azure/AWS equivalents
  • Strong knowledge of Medallion Architecture, Star Schema, and data modelling best practices
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and code quality standards
  • Ability to lead technical direction, manage vendor relationships, navigate project risks, and align with stakeholder goals
  • Holds certifications like Databricks Certified Associate Developer for Apache Spark and/or Cloudera Certified Associate (CCA) Spark and Hadoop Developer.
  • Demonstrates strong theoretical understanding and hands-on experience with Spark Structured Streaming.
