Databricks Contractors – Expressions of Interest (Intermediate to Senior)

Contract Type: Contract (6 months initial term, strong extension potential)
Working Arrangement: Hybrid – 3 days onsite
Start Date: Late 2025 or Early 2026 (subject to project funding)

Overview
We’re inviting expressions of interest from experienced Databricks Contractors who are looking for their next project opportunity starting later this year or early next year. Whether you’re at an intermediate or senior level, this is a great chance to be considered for upcoming contract roles supporting a high-impact data platform initiative in Central Auckland.

Our client is in the process of securing final funding for this programme. While we are actively processing applications now, please note this is not an immediate start position.

Project Snapshot
This large-scale programme will focus on building and enhancing a modern data platform. It’s a role for those who enjoy a mix of architecture, hands-on delivery, and influencing strategic outcomes across data engineering initiatives.

Key Skills and Experience
We are particularly interested in hearing from candidates with the following:

• Proven experience in data engineering within large-scale, cloud-based ecosystems
• Expertise with Databricks (essential), Azure Data Factory, Delta Tables, ADLS, and Power BI
• Deep knowledge of SQL, Python, and PySpark for big data processing
• Experience with Modern Data Platforms (e.g., Databricks, Snowflake, Azure/AWS equivalents)
• Strong understanding of Medallion Architecture, Star Schema, and data modelling best practices
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and code quality frameworks
• Ability to lead technical direction, manage vendor engagement, mitigate project risks, and align to business goals
• Certifications such as Databricks Certified Associate Developer for Apache Spark and/or CCA Spark and Hadoop Developer
• Demonstrated experience with Spark Structured Streaming is highly desirable
